“June’s Poetry Night at the Library will be 12 June from 6-7:45 PM in the Mesa Room at the Main Library in Grand Junction. This month our topic will be verb use in poetry. You might be thinking, “What? Who doesn’t know how to use verbs?” Well, you might be surprised at how you can use this basic building block of language to improve your poetry.
Last month’s topic was Neeli Cherkovski and we are grateful that Danny Rosen from Lithic books came down to share some details about this outstanding poet. The challenge is to go into your backyard and write a poem weaving together details from your yard and a current event or an elegy to someone. If you’re not feeling the challenge, that’s fine – bring something else to read or just come listen. Everyone is welcome!”
