Author Event: David Primus’ “Beneath Blue Mesa”

  • Out West Books 533 Main Street Grand Junction, CO, 81501 United States (map)

Out West Books will host author David Primus to discuss his book Beneath Blue Mesa.

In the late 1950’s, the United States Bureau of Reclamation was authorized to construct the Curecant Project, consisting of three dams on the Gunnison River. The largest, Blue Mesa Reservoir, was created by the construction of a 390-foot fam at the start of the Black Canyon, inundating 23 miles of the Gunnison River Valley in the 1960’s. This is the story of the loss of three towns, sixteen fishing resorts, and fifteen ranches along the scenic Gunnison River west of Gunnison, Colorado.

David Primus moved to Gunnison in 1978 to attend Western State College. He has served as a long time member of the Gunnison Historic Preservation Committee.

This event will be held at 6:30 p.m. on March 20th at Out West Books, 533 Main Street, Grand Junction, CO (970) 986-8086. Go to www.outwestbooks.co or email outwestbooks@gmail.com for more information. Seating is limited.
